With a population of 406,427, it is the country's seventh-largest city and the largest seaport in Poland on the Baltic Sea. Szczecin is also the capital of the Western Pomeranian Province. Administratively, the city is divided into boroughs which are further divided into smaller neighborhoods. The governing bodies serve the role of auxiliary local government bodies called councils. Szczecin has a reputation as a 'green city' as it is supplied with vegetation, water areas, and convenient climatic conditions for residence or tourism. Only an hour's journey by car, rail or waterway divides the residents of Szczecin from well-known seaside resorts: Świnoujście, Międzyzdroje, Dziwnów, and Rewal. The region is surrounded by a massive forest and several lakes, which are perfect for yachting and other water related sports. Szczecin is a city with over a thousand years of tradition and for centuries this location has been at the centre of European transit routes, from the west to the east and from the north, through the Baltic, to the south of Europe. The history of the city dates back to 7th and 8th centuries and over time was ruled by the Polish, Prussians, French, Danish and Germans. During Second World War, Szczecin was conquered by the Russian army and a Polish administration took over the town. The German population was then expelled and their place was taken by settlers from all over Poland and Polish speakers from Lithuania and Ukraine. When compared to other cities, the Real Estate for sale Szczecin has recently been gaining popularity with several real estate companies developing their own sites. Flat sale Szczecin is relatively low which makes investments in this city attractive because their values are expected to appreciate in years to come. Due to strong consumer and end-user demand for commercial and retail establishments, the profit in the Real Estate property sector will be sustained till next year. Tourism industry also plays a major role in boosting the home for sale Szczecin market. The government has also taken measures to open up of full land ownership to foreign investors in the city.
